Our Farm: Week 14

Yes, it has been 6 weeks since our last farm pictures. Wow, time has flown!

It’s easy to say that we’re on the down hill slide of things for the year. It won’t be long until the beans start turning yellow and drying out. Combining season is right around the corner!

We’re still irrigating the corn, but it’s only got a watering or two before it’s done. Just like the beans, it will start to dry out and turn a golden color. At least it sticks around for awhile. It makes everything feel very fall-ish.

The stalks are loaded with corn!

The corn has tasseled, which sends the silk down to the plant, which produces the corn. Very scientific. Really.

You can slightly see that the beans are starting to turn yellow in some areas. It’s only a matter of time before the entire field is yellow. Fall is in the air!

So, you can’t see the house from the bottom of our field… I had to stand on my tip toes and raise the camera all the way above my head to get a shot of the house in the background.

I also had the cutest helper following me around. 🙂

He likes to stray off course. He’s a rebel.

More updates later… fall brings big changes!

Our Farm: Week Three, Four & Eight

So, I’ll be frank, you won’t even recognize our fields. They’ve completely changed. Like a lot.

Remember this:

(Week Two)

Well, that quickly turned into this:

(Week Three)

Then this:

(Week Four)

And now THIS:

(Week Eight)

Told you it had really, really grown!

It’s taller than me!

(Corn & Beans)

While I was out taking pictures this weekend, I was lucky enough to capture some great shots of the airplane sprayer that dusts crops with different kinds of spray.

I swear he saw me taking pictures and made sure to do a few extra loops. 🙂

So there you have it! It’ll only keep growing! 🙂

Our Farm: Week Two

Well, another week has passed. We finished watering our corn in the small field below the house and have started on the big field to the west. The corn is just beginning to peak through the dirt in the small field and we expect to see the same in the big field next week.

It’s very exciting.

Here’s to week two!

It’s looking lovely!

Our Farm: Week One

Happy Sunday!

This weekend has been nothing short of busy. Between painting, shopping for a few final house items (say that 5 times fast) and irrigating our field for the first time, we’ve had a very successful few days.

Since we’re in full swing farming, I’m going to try my best to do a weekly update to document our crops as they progress.

Here’s to week one… and the pictures that document it!

I hope your weekend was wonderful!
